We are looking to recruit Data Scientists in Computational ADME & Safety to join the Computational ADME & Safety team within the Clinical Pharmacology & Safety Sciences (CPSS) function at AstraZeneca’s vibrant R&D sites in Gothenburg, Sweden or Cambridge, UK.
Clinical Pharmacology & Safety Sciences (CPSS) is a function within our Biopharmaceuticals R&D Unit. The role of CPSS is to characterize absorption, disposition, metabolism and elimination (ADME) properties of compounds, non-clinical toxicology and off-target pharmacology. Working in disease-focused project teams we help to discover efficacious molecules with good safety profiles. CPSS is committed to be an industry leader in supporting the discovery and non-clinical development of safe medicines that improve patients’ lives. Within CPSS, the Computational ADME & Safety team is dedicated towards developing computational models to aid projects to design and select molecules with the right safety and ADME profiles.
As a Data Scientist in Computational ADME & Safety, you will work with cutting edge technology in an open and collaborative environment nursing novel ideas. The group has strong focus on method development within the computational area, acknowledging the need to in depth understanding of the safety or ADME properties of interest. Collaboration within and outside CPSS is essential.
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
As a Data Scientist in Computational ADME & Safety, your main responsibilities will involve:


You will have the opportunity to apply Machine Learning / Artificial Intelligence and mechanistic modeling approaches to ADME and safety endpoints assuring delivery of appropriate tools and in silico models to projects for virtual screening, compound selection and experimental prioritization.
Analyze data and model quality ensuring high performance of models and tools
You’ll provide specialist support for development, interpretation and application of machine learning models along with knowledge of common database query languages e.g.
Support analyses to provide mechanistic and translational insight into compound ADME and Safety profiles
Method development to improve models and enhance model value and generated knowledge

Requirements:
BSc degree (or equivalent) in life science, statistics or computer science, preferably with industry experience
Demonstrated knowledge in one or more of the following areas
Expertise in a variety of machine learning methods (e.g. Deep Learning, SVM, Random Forrest)
Computational chemistry, Computational toxicology or Cheminformatics
Expertise in high-performance computing and programming (e.g. Python, C++, Java). Experience using cloud platforms are beneficial.
Excellent communication skills and ability to work in a multidisciplinary research environment
Innovative thinking, with enthusiasm, energy and drive.
Open-minded, and ready to embrace new ideas and different perspectives.
Strong critical thinking, planning, organizational and time management skills.

Desirable:

Key Accountabilities
Interact with the senior level executives using excellent verbal/written communication skills.

Service Ownership which includes: 24x7 Support for Executive Customers, including senior level executive home office support, support while traveling, and high touch support for their Office Assistants. Must manage time flexibly to best suite the schedule of Executives.
Install, configure, and troubleshoot desktop systems, workstations, network, and audio/visual issues in a regulated environment.
Responsible for creation and updating all related procedures and documentation.
Knowledge of and preparedness of all changes and policies that may affect Executive workflow.
Measure and monitor customer experience and ongoing satisfaction for the VIP service and normal onsite support provided to VIPs.
Conduct continuous service improvement activities to address issues or concerns with VIP Services and support.
Part of a Campus support team that will optimize VIP Support, Supplier Onsite
Support and AZ trainers with a focus on customer experience and improving our IT Service.
Responsible for documenting incidents, problems and requests in the company ticketing system.
Communicate highly technical information to both technical and nontechnical
personnel.
Work independently and with little supervision, must think and act quickly in high pressure situations and must
work with a high level of discretion.
Provide technical support for meetings held by senior level executives with internal or external participants.

We are now recruiting Statistical Programmer / Statistisk programmerare to join our growing late stage development CVRM Biometrics function at AstraZeneca’s dynamic R&D site in Gothenburg, Sweden. We are offering opportunities at different levels depending on your previous experience. We welcome your application both if you are in the very beginning of your career or if you have extensive experience from the pharmaceutical industry or related applications of programming.
You will join a team of statisticians and statistical programmers to provide programming expertise to the design, conduct, evaluation, documentation and regulatory submissions of our clinical development programs. Depending on your previous experience, you may also contribute to more strategic planning, quantitative decision making, act as expert in our contact with external providers and collaborators, coach more junior staff, manage projects and be involved in adapting and developing programming tools, standards and praxis.

Requirements
As our work is conducted in cross functional project teams in an international environment, it is important that your statistical programming skills are combined with excellent inter-personal, collaboration and communication skills to be able to work effectively in a global organization where teams often are geographically dispersed.
The minimum required educational level is a B.Sc. degree in a relevant discipline such as statistics, biostatistics, mathematics, computer science, life science or engineering. Excellent English is also required, both written and spoken.

It is also important with an interest in, and ability to, communicate your subject matter expertise to experts in other disciplines within AstraZeneca.
