Enheten Fiberutveckling rekryterar en forskare inom materialutveckling av funktionella fibermaterial.

I vår verksamhet i Mölndal finns Sveriges största laboratorium för fiberutveckling och här arbetar vi med att ta fram framtidens fibermaterial, med stort fokus på funktionalitet, hållbarhet och resurseffektivitet. Vårt team utvecklar och erbjuder expertis, tillverkningsmetoder samt materialanalyser i hela kedjan från råmaterial till slutprodukt. Du blir en viktig lagspelare i en engagerad enhet med spetskompetens och som värdesätter att arbeta i nära samarbete, både inom teamet och med våra kunder och partners.

Om rollen
Hos oss kommer du tillsammans med övriga kollegor i teamet driva området funktionella fibermaterial framåt genom att initiera eller samverka i forskningsprojekt och kommersiella utvecklingsuppdrag med våra partners och kunder. Du förväntas vara aktivt uppdaterad på forskningsfronten och industrins behov, samt se och vara öppen för nya möjligheter för samarbeten inom teknik- och fiberutveckling.

För att lyckas i denna roll ser vi att du har mycket god kunskap och erfarenhet inom utveckling av funktionella fibermaterial, både praktiskt och teoretiskt. Vi söker specifikt dig som har expertis inom materialsystem för kontrollerad frisättning av aktiva substanser. Du motiveras av att utveckla nya fibermaterial baserat på samhällsutmaningar samt problemställningar och önskemål från våra kunder.

Viktiga och förekommande arbetsuppgifter i rollen är:

- Innovationsarbete kring nya funktionella fibermaterial och processer
- Direkt involvering i experimentellt arbete
- Utveckling av vår utrustningspark
- Kontakt med kunder och samarbetspartners
- Ansöka om anslag från finansiärer
- Projektledning och initiering av nya projekt och uppdrag
- Bygga internt och externt nätverk

Vem är du?
Du är en disputerad forskare inom materialkemi med expertis inom både våtspinning samt yt- och kolloidkemi. Erfarenhet av inkapsling och kontrollerad frisättning av olika typer av aktiva substanser med olika fysikaliska och kemiska egenskaper är meriterande. Till denna erfarenhet tillkommer även kompetens och handhavande av relevanta instrument och analytiska tekniker såsom mikroskopi (fluorescens, konfokal, SEM) och spektrofotometri. Kompetens inom avancerad databehandling såsom bildanalys och modellering/simulering av frisättningsprocesser från olika typer av geometrier är önskvärt.

Du kan uttrycka dig väl i både tal och skrift på svenska och engelska. Erfarenhet av ansökningsarbete är meriterande. Som person är du initiativrik och driven med god förmåga att arbeta självständigt såväl som i team.

About the role
The Global Packaging Engineer will be responsible for both the development and optimization of brand packaging solutions for primary, secondary and tertiary packaging components. The scope of the Global Packaging Engineer goes across all Essity business categories and geographies and includes interaction on a professional level with packaging suppliers and internal stakeholders from marketing, sales, product development, category management, sourcing, logistics and manufacturing, driving company goals and objectives.
As the Global Packaging Development area is a relatively new function within Essity R&D, we also expect you to strongly contribute to improving our processes and way-of-working, identifying knowledge gaps, and filling them through enabling projects, developing new methods and tools, and defining new key performance indicators, in our journey of becoming a best-in-class R&D Packaging Development Team.

What You Will Do
In this role you will work in innovation projects to ensure the development of optimum quality packaging with maximum speed to market and effective cost management in line with global brand packaging strategies. You will also support regional and global marketing teams on new product launches; specifically implementing new package designs, innovations, and machine acceptance trials.
Manage the development of global primary, secondary and tertiary packaging components and deliver specifications for both packaging innovations and re-design of packaging to support product changes and line extensions. It is required of you to provide and communicate technical input and recommendations on all packaging-related matters and technical training and development to all appropriate areas.
You will also:


Identify and develop innovative packaging concepts including materials, packaging format, print technology and brand assurance devices, with potential business benefits.
Set and improve the packaging specification parameter framework (QPack) for different materials and improve way-of-working for packaging development processes.
Proactively develop, maintain, and improve working relationships with manufacturing, product development, marketing, sales, category management, logistics and sourcing.
Manage R&D Packaging Team enabling projects.
Use a systematic approach to analyze data and suggests corrective actions to optimize current packaging solutions in terms of cost, functionality, and process without affecting the value of the product.
Perform root cause shipping and warehouse damage analysis and any relevant testing needed.
Lead factory/business teams focused on packaging optimization, understanding the interaction among all the factors that influence the results, working on details with the big picture in mind.

What you need
For this role you need a minimum of B.Sc, but preferably Master's Degree, in Packaging Engineering, Industrial Design, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering or another relevant field. To be successful in the role, we also see that you have some years of experience, a minimum of 3 years of industrial experience, working with various forms of packaging development. An advantage if you have experience from manufacturing environment and packaging machinery relative to line trials, the packaging process and performance issues.
Furthermore, we believe you have:


Excellent English written and verbal communication skills
Experience with logistics optimization is preferred
Experience with SAP, Adobe Illustrator, Tops/Cape, AutoCad is an advantage
Project management experience is an advantage

We think that the Global Packaging Engineer has a holistic thinking that takes a broad stakeholder perspective and can understand stakeholder requirements, operational limitations, and business opportunities. You have a basic understanding of packaging materials, components and functionalities, the packaging filling process, and packaging associated test methods/standards.
The role will occasionally require domestic and international travels, up to 30%.

We are looking for two Packaging Engineers, one located in Gothenburg (Sweden) and one located in Ismaning, Munich (Germany). For internal candidates, it can also be possible to be located in an office in one of our factory locations.

Key Competencies
Master's Degree required, preferably in Packaging Engineering, Industrial Design, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering or other relevant field
A minimum of 3-5 years of industrial experience, working with various forms of packaging development
Experience from manufacturing environment and packaging machinery relative to line trials, the packaging process and packaging integrity/performance issues
Excellent English written and verbal communication skills
Experience with logistics optimization is preferred
Experience with SAP, Adobe Illustrator, Tops/Cape, AutoCad is an advantage
Project management experience is an advantage
Ability to travel up to 40% to domestic and international locations
