Job Description
Work with cross-functional teams to develop and implement packaging solutions that align with Essity's category strategies and sustainability goals.
Develop packaging materials and packaging concepts, considering product protection, costs, sustainability aspects, as well as customer agreements and current legislation.
Plan, coordinate, and assess production trials to validate new packaging materials and specifications. Support BUs/GBIS/Pack Team in value-creation activities, such as harmonization, rationalization new-supplier-qualifications, root-cause analysis, and quality improvements
Conduct research and analysis of packaging materials to identify opportunities for harmonization and complexity reduction of the company's packaging material specifications.
Drive scientific research and development programs aimed at enhancing packaging materials and processes.

Collaborate with suppliers to source sustainable packaging materials.
Ensure compliance with relevant regulations and industry standards.

Experience and Qualification requirements
BSc, but preferably Master's degree, in Packaging Engineering, Industrial Design, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering or another relevant field
A minimum of 3 years of industrial experience, working with various forms of packaging development. Experience from manufacturing environment and packaging machinery relative to line trials in the packaging process and performance issues is an advantage.
Experience with logistics optimization is preferred.
Excellent English written and verbal communication skills.
Project management experience is an advantage. Holistic thinking that takes a broad stakeholder perspective and can understand stakeholder requirements, operational limitations, and business opportunities.
In depth knowledge of packaging materials, components and functionalities, the packaging filling process, and packaging associated test methods/standards.
Problem-solving skills. Ability to identify smart solutions with the right level of pragmatism.
Willingness to work in a culturally diverse organization. Able to travel when required.

Vem är du?
Du är en disputerad forskare inom materialkemi med expertis inom både våtspinning samt yt- och kolloidkemi. Erfarenhet av inkapsling och kontrollerad frisättning av olika typer av aktiva substanser med olika fysikaliska och kemiska egenskaper är meriterande. Till denna erfarenhet tillkommer även kompetens och handhavande av relevanta instrument och analytiska tekniker såsom mikroskopi (fluorescens, konfokal, SEM) och spektrofotometri. Kompetens inom avancerad databehandling såsom bildanalys och modellering/simulering av frisättningsprocesser från olika typer av geometrier är önskvärt.

Du kan uttrycka dig väl i både tal och skrift på svenska och engelska. Erfarenhet av ansökningsarbete är meriterande. Som person är du initiativrik och driven med god förmåga att arbeta självständigt såväl som i team.

Job Description
Accountable for the technical package design of a range of Essity produced products.
Be the expert in packaging design/construction for Essity specifications and assortments across geographies
Drive or participate in projects to deliver packaging platforms and improve state of readiness for future innovation projects.
Represent own area as packaging expert and advisor to projects in GHC and Business Units and mentor less experienced packaging engineers
Accountable that all packaging and inner packaging related information is up-to-date, accurate and consistent
Proactively monitor and maintain agreed performance and delivery standards based on internal customer requirements
If required, the position should be able to act as first line manager for packaging engineers or technicians, either due to organizational requirements or due to more resource being added to the area(s) this position is responsible for.
Be the expert in packaging design/construction for Essity specifications and assortments across geographies, by leading review, modification, or creation of package designs for a defined range of products that optimize manufacturing, distribution, handling and marketing of packaging in order increase revenue, decrease total cost of ownership and minimize risk.
Participate in relevant patent watch teams and actively support the work to patent new materials/solutions
Support BUs/GBIS/Pack Team in value-creation activities, such as harmonization, rationalization new-supplier-qualifications, root-cause analysis, and quality improvements

About the role
The Global Packaging Engineer will be responsible for both the development and optimization of brand packaging solutions for primary, secondary and tertiary packaging components. What You Will Do
In this role you will work in innovation projects to ensure the development of optimum quality packaging with maximum speed to market and effective cost management in line with global brand packaging strategies. Manage the development of global primary, secondary and tertiary packaging components and deliver specifications for both packaging innovations and re-design of packaging to support product changes and line extensions. It is required of you to provide and communicate technical input and recommendations on all packaging-related matters and technical training and development to all appropriate areas.
You will also:


Identify and develop innovative packaging concepts including materials, packaging format, print technology and brand assurance devices, with potential business benefits.
Set and improve the packaging specification parameter framework (QPack) for different materials and improve way-of-working for packaging development processes.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

Be engaged in the development and improvement of internal processes and manage deviations. Be responsible for writing of GMP and SHE procedures within own skill areas and will be responsible for related training and compliance activities. As required maintain defined facilities or equipment according to GMP standards and be proactive to contribute to projects/activities through applying specialist knowledge within appropriate areas.

Material Management & Distribution responsibilities example
Preparing documentation, receiving and packing of investigational medicinal products to clinical trials. Being the main point of contact when it comes to distribution questions for a number of studies.

Pack & Label responsibilities example
Handling batch documentation, primary pack(tablets or capsules in bottles) and secondary pack(labelling of bottles, devices and vials). Being responsible for equipment (manual and automated) including instructions, training, qualification etc.

Essential requirements and skills

* BSc/MSc in chemistry/pharmacy/engineering or equivalent experience. Preferably 2 years' experience within pharmaceutical development
