The opportunity
HVDC (High Voltage Direct Current) is a product group within Hitachi Energy that develops, manufactures, and sells DC transmission systems in the global market. HVDC technology is utilized to transmit electricity over long distances and through submarine cables, as well as to connect power systems.
The Plant Lead Engineering team is part of engineering at HVDC, with a leading technical role and overall responsibility for our Plants and Civil design solutions for onshore stations and offshore wind platforms, ensuring strategic technical decisions for optimal solutions. You coordinate with various departments to oversee the design and placement of equipment, manage systems, and ensure quality and process adherence. You lead your team, manage technical risks, and represent Plants in customer meetings. How you'll make an impact
Be a positive technical leader in your role as a Plants Lead Engineer for your Plants and civil team and drive our vision, technical deliverables and develop people and work closely with our Project Lead Engineer, Project engineering manager, Plants project manager and Project Interface manager offshore.
Having overall technical understanding and take responsibility of the overall design of Plants and civil for HVDC land stations and/or offshore platform and its interfaces.
Driving our base design, read and understand the customers specification and act strategically technically for the best overall HVDC technical solution.
Technical coordination with Plants own departments: Electromechanical design (overall HVDC station design with placement of equipment in CAD layouts), Station auxiliary power (incl cables between HVDC equipment, auxiliary transformers, diesels, batteries), Civil design and auxiliary systems (incl fire system, climate system, security system)
Lead the team and make sure we follow processes, taking care of technical risks and fulfil the quality and represent Plants in internal and external customer and partner meetings.

Your background
Bachelor or Master of Science in Engineering.
Several years within energy field, electrical power, electromechanical design, auxiliary power design or civil design for large projects and experience of HVDC technology or similar business as sub stations, high voltage products or offshore wind connections. Experience from site work, installation and/or commissioning is an advantage.
You are an engaged, ambitious, and driven person that thrives in a constantly changing environment and who enjoys collaboration with employees, peers and beyond.
You understand technical topics and can easily understand HVDC, have a strong sense of responsibility, and when needed you are comfortable with taking decisions for your team.
Speaking and writing English fluently is required since you will be part of a global team where you will need to communicate with people from all over the world.

Your responsibilities
You will define operating guidelines for team and facilitates problem solving. You can oversee progress within one’s area of responsibility, identify and manages technical issues. Your background
As a successful candidate you have a PhD or master’s degree in electrical engineering, electrical power systems, sustainability or similar, and experience in the energy sector is required.
Strong knowledge in power systems products, sustainability studies, cost-benefit analysis, energy economics and documentation.
You have at least a couple of years of experience in the consulting and energy branch.
You have some years of experience as a team lead, project manager or technical responsible.
You have a proven experience in creating opportunities in the markets (orders capture).
As a person, you have excellent influencing, leadership and communication skills.
It is necessary to be fluent in Swedish and English, both written and spoken alike.

Your responsibilities
In this exciting new consultant role, you will get the opportunity to take part in and deliver major, often challenging assignments, together with our consultants and experts from local as well as international Power Consulting offices.
You will lead your own projects including delivery and customer relationship development. The projects are typically within the area of power system analysis including power system modelling and simulation, protection coordination, power quality analysis, etc.

Your background
As a successful candidate you have a PhD or master’s degree in electrical engineering, electrical power systems or similar.
You are newly graduated (or about to be) or have a couple of years of experience in the consulting and energy branch.
You have strong knowledge in power systems analysis.
Experience in software simulation tools such as PSS/E, PSCAD and/or DIgSILENT Power Factory is a merit.
Programming skill in Python, C++, etc. is a merit.
You have an analytical mindset, and you are independent, self-going, and take your own initiatives to solve problems.
As a person, you have excellent influencing, collaboration and communication skills.
It is necessary to be fluent in Swedish and English, both written and spoken alike.

Your background

Extense software knowledge such as: C++, MATLAB, Simulink, GaBi Dfx, Homer, Python and Microsoft office pack, especially Excel, PowerBI, PowerApps and VBA.
You have an analytic and solution oriented working style.
You are customer focused and quality oriented.
To successfully take on this position, you need the ability to plan and prioritize, also systemic thinking.
Fluency in English and Swedish, both written and spoken.

Bonus Points For
Between 2 and 6 years of relevant work experience in strategy consulting or analytics consulting.
Extensive and verifiable experience in additional sectors such as: electric transport, battery storage, wind offshore, hydrogen, virtual power plants, etc.
Additional language skills like Spanish, French, German are considered a plus.
